Tactical Aircraft Armor Rapid Deployment Brief

Zero-hole modification technology overview for rotary and fixed-wing platforms with 4-hour field mounting.

§Concept of Operations

The rapid deployment aircraft armor system is engineered to be installed and removed by a standard maintenance crew in under four hours, without drilling, welding, or any structural modification to the airframe. Protection panels attach to existing hard-points and load-paths through a proprietary interface, preserving the aircraft's original airworthiness certification and reversibility for depot return.

§Qualified Platforms

  • C-130 Hercules — cockpit and cargo-bay protection kits
  • CASA CN-235 / C-295 — tactical airlift crew protection
  • Transall C-160 — legacy fixed-wing armored fit
  • UH-60 Black Hawk — cockpit, floor, and door gunner stations
  • AH-1 Cobra — cockpit tub reinforcement
  • AS532 Cougar / H215M — full crew and cabin protection

§Areal Density & Protection Levels

STANAG 4569 Level III< 20 kg/m² areal density
STANAG 4569 Level IV< 36 kg/m² areal density
NIJ 0101.07RF3 engineering reference (see status note)
Field Assembly≤ 4 hours by standard maintenance crew
Airframe ModificationZero — no drilling, welding, or structural alteration

§Environmental Qualification

MIL-STD-810 qualified across the full operational envelope from −55 °C to +85 °C, including salt fog, humidity, vibration, and altitude cycles. Materials comply with FAA CFR 14 §25.853 flammability, smoke, and toxicity requirements for cabin interior use.

§Service Level Agreement

  • 60-month warranty on all installed panels
  • 10-year maintenance guarantee with spares availability
  • 24-hour rapid response for field damage assessment
  • Configuration-controlled replacement panels — chain-of-custody documented

§Material Basis

Panels are built on the KIM Armor RF3 platform using Al₂O₃, SiC, and B₄C ceramic strike faces bonded to composite backers. Single-curve and multi-curve geometries are qualified. Production is performed inside a NATO SECRET cleared facility under AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality management.

§Release Controls

Detailed configuration drawings, ballistic V₅₀ data, and platform integration packages are released under distribution controls to verified program offices, Member/committee staff, and cleared prime contractors through the approved evidence-request process.
